Film Academy

One evening a few months ago I helped edit a music video for someone, we managed a first rough cut and everyone was really pleased with the result. We agreed to finish it when he had some free time in his diary, but in the mean time he asked if I would like to help out on a Film Academy for kids, explaining that it was a 3 week module that was part of a much bigger design academy covering everything from interiors to t-shirt design. Without thinking, I said yes because I loved the idea. When the first Saturday session came around, I was a little nervous, as I didn't know what to expect, I had never formally taught kids anything and I was already imagining some of the more disruptive characters from Waterloo Road making up the large percentage of the class populous. Instead, what I got was some incredibly talented and creative youngsters, most of which were excited by the idea of making a film and already had loads of ideas of what they wanted to do. Mandi See, Mandi Don't

Dormant Account... So a while ago, I joined a networking website for photographers and models but to be honest I didn't really give it much attention and my account had been dormant for some time. Then, I got a surprise email from someone called Mandi See, a cool, but unlikely name, for a slightly cuckoo (in a good way) and creative girl (checkout her youtube , website , facebook ) Mandi See Mandi was interested in doing a TFCD shoot, this means 'Time for CD' and is basically where photographers give their time, skill, experience and equipment in exchange for a models time, skill and experience and both parties benefit their portfolio. After the shoot the photographer gives the model a copy of all the photos on a CD. Talent can vary on both sides, depending on who you are working with, though I thought Mandi was great and fun and hopefully she liked the end result. A night of soloists...

Cal Folger Day Huck, known to me from Tamara and the Martyrs put on a night known to all as 'Huck's Honeypot Hootenanny'. Well, it was put on by Huck, it was held at the Honeypot ; a pub in Oxford and it was a Hootenanny (I had to look that up and apparently it means 'An informal gathering with folk music and sometimes dancing') There were going to be 3 acts playing; Huck , Myles Manley and Cal Folger Day I had a preview of what was to come, courtesy of a video Huck had attached to the event advertised on bookface. Instantly loved Cal's voice and was looking forward to hearing it for real. This is some of what happened...
